May you rest in peace my pretty cousin…

Yesterday was a very sad sad day. It was the day that our cousin “Myka” was brought to her final resting place. All family members and close friends wore white shirt were “Justice for Mizzielle Jamyka Cruz Gutierrez” is printed in front. From their house, her remains were moved to San Pablo Chapel.

The Mass was hosted by St. Paul University Manila, and a bus full of ‘Paulinians’ was also there. Everybody was emotional as everybody still couldn’t believe this terrible tragedy that struck our family. We always see news about people being killed or dying but we never though such brutal thing could happen to one of our family members. Specially to someone that is very young and have a promising future ahead of her. After the mass, her remains were taken to Manila Memorial Park, Sucat, Paranaque.

Family, Friends, Neighbors, Schoolmates, Collegues, Friends of friends and even people who don’t really know her at first but was moved by her story, joined together to escort her body while being taken to her final resting place. Some were holding banners that show her pictures and other banners that say the message “Justice for Myka!” or “Justice for Mizzielle Jamyka Cruz Gutierrez”. People were willing to walk several kilometres as a sacrifice and to share the pain that she had suffered. This is our way of spreading the story of Myka to other people and so people can help us find justice for her.

When we arrived at the location, final prayers were given and people were given the chance to view Myka one last time. Many people shed their tears, shared their prayers and sympathies. Some guys like me were also not able to hold back our tears but it was nothing compared to the pain felt by Myka’s Father, Mother and brothers. White balloons were released into the air as Myka’s remains were being lowered down and flowers were thrown to her final resting place.

Thank you to all who paid their respects, and shared their prayers and sympathies to our family. We hope you will continue your prayers so that we can find the Justice that Myka deserves.
